Southern Oregon is one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.

Much of the coast has been set aside as State Park and remains undeveloped. The few towns that exist along the shore are mainly devoted to fishing and oystery. There are also a number of towns that serve as coastal entry points to rivers that are transportation hubs that serve cities on rivers deeper inland.

But the unique features of the southern Oregon coast are ancient reminders of the volcanic origins of the west coast. Formed by the largest volcanos on earth, Rainier, Hood, St Helens – the stacks and arches of Oregon are the survivors of history.
